We're often asked if we're related to Sturtevant's of Sun Valley. Well, we are, sort of. Here's a brief look at our history and how we became Sturtevant's, Ski Mart and Boarderline.

  • 1963 Fred Sturtevant opens Sturtevant's of Sun Valley in Ketchum, Idaho
  • 1963 Hal Hansen moves Hal's Sport Shop from Seattle to 622 Bellevue Way NE, Bellevue
  • 1965 Earl Julnes joins Hal Hansen and they rename their Bellevue shop Alpine House
  • 1971 Four Bellevue entrepreneurs buy Sturtevant's of Sun Valley from Fred Sturtevant (who moves to Hagerman, Idaho to be a farmer)
  • 1973 The owners of Sturtevant's of Sun Valley buy Alpine House in Bellevue and rename it Sturtevant's of Sun Valley
  • 1977 Duncan Campbell and Alan Quinn buy the Bellevue Sturtevant's (and drop Sun Valley from the name)
  • 1986 Ski Mart first opens on 103rd and Main Street in Bellevue and begins offering rentals, closeouts and consignment skis
  • 1992 Boarderline Snowboards, the Eastside's first snowboard shop, opens
  • 1999 Sturtevant's and Boarderline move to 1100 Bellevue Way NE
  • 2000 Sturtevant's partners with Altrec.com to power the Sturtevants.com online store
  • 2001 A second Sturtevant's location opens on Puyallup's South Hill
  • 2004 Duncan Campbell takes sole ownership of Sturtevant's, Boarderline and Ski Mart
  • 2005 Ski Mart moves to NE 20th and 132nd in Bellevue
  • 2007 - Duncan and Janet Campbell sold their interest in Dual Sports, Inc. (Sturtevant's, Boarderline Snowboards and Ski Mart) to employees, Jeff Campbell, Tracy Gibbons and Stacey Weichbrodt.
